Bike Exchange
According to the Census Bureau in 2016,
nearly 30,000 households in the Cincinnati metro area do not have access to a
car. For nearly 22,000 households, walking is the
method of travel for workers. Only about 2,500 households reported a bicycle
as the method of transportation to work. For over 50,000 households, commute time is
60 minutes or longer (the correlation between method of transportation and
commute time is not known). These seem like statistics that can be
improved.
BLOC Bikes is a new program under BLOC
Ministries that will provide donated bikes to our brothers and sisters in
Cincinnati who don't have a personal means of transportation.
The goal is to
enable people to get to jobs faster and more independently, or to be able to
look for jobs that are a bit farther from home.
