Dater Foundation Arts Grant Success for Community

BLOC was honored to be awarded at $20,000 grant from the Charles H. Dater Foundation, a major funder of Phase 2 of our Lower Price Hill Murals project.

Arts Grant Helps BLOC Build Community & Creativity in Lower Price Hill

20 students took part in learning through workshops at BLOC Arts Center in Lower Price Hill. Along with gaining skills in drawing techniques, they also discussed matters affecting their lives and neighborhoods. They talked about focusing on the good that’s affecting them there and through this project. Students from the School for Creative and Performing Arts also volunteered on the project.

Two murals were completed in two different spots in the neighborhood and focused on positive messages of hope and unity: getting along together.  A final party held at BLOC Arts Center brought the community together to celebrate the completion of the 2 murals, as well as showcased a smaller mural inside the Center.

BLOC Ministries is humbled and blessed for this award and wonderful relationship with the Dater Foundation.
