Why We Exist
Our goal is to cultivate an atmosphere for growth, acceptance, love and opportunity among our community members. We are their neighbors, their coaches and mentors, their family and friends. We commit to caring and challenging every young person, student, family and adult who is willing to take a step forward to better themselves and change their lives. BLOC aspires to open pathways for everyone’s future in a world where no one else will.  We are BLOC.

Our Why

Cincinnati’s only one-to-one urban city ministry where our staff live and work daily, BLOC’s biblical foundation is Ephesians 4:4-6:

“There is one body, and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called: One Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.”

  • We are joyfully passionate about the hope we received from Jesus Christ. He is Who inspires us.
  • We encourage and challenge others so they might find hope; and in turn, they become the leaders of their community’s change as they invest hope in their friends, neighbors, and family.
  • We desire to build a strong urban community, not from the outside, but from the inside by helping our neighbors grow.  We are not a community center but rather - a "center of community."
  • We work where the needs are greatest and the neighborhood resources smaller than the need so that BLOC brings added benefits, rather than duplicating services.
