My first five years of life was in a renowned small town owned by my family called Rabbit Hash, KY. The latter years of my childhood and life were being raised in Covington, KY in traumatic circumstances where I began working at age 7 and moving from orphanages and homeless shelters to living on the river banks and losing my mother to alcohol, drugs, and suicide when I was 15. I was on my own since. While God sheltered me and Covington has served as my home base, I've worked and traveled nearly every state in the US & Canada, Europe, Asia & South America. I spent time in both Japan & Hong Kong. I worked with 5 governors and prior to ministry...I was the spokesman of a major casino and worked with CBS News affiliate Local 12! My wife, Jen, and our only son Sterling reside in Covington with two dogs and one cat. We are urban dwellers with an urban garden that we use to feed ourselves and homeless passers-by. I went to Eastern Kentucky University earning a bachelor's degree in public relations & psychology and earned my Masters of Public Administration & Nonprofit Management form Northern Kentucky University, where I taught classes for a stint. After my heart disease was miraculously healed only through prayer, I realized it was time to step into my calling and purpose in ministry with our church community - Branches in Loveland, OH. In the same year (2019), the Lord brought me to BLOC Ministries.
I have extensive background in inner-city programs and evaluation and development of services that impact the disadvantaged. I've developed an initiative that is recognized as a national and international model to combat truancy in school, as well as track behavior modification.
Above all of my duties in public relations, marketing communications and development/fundraising, I am a chief strategist for BLOC guiding the organization where the good Lord is leading our leadership team, board and mission. I fell in love with BLOC, realizing that we are one of only a few organizations in the United States (and most of the world) - specifically in the Midwest - doing God's work through one-to-one programs & services with an amazing staff of Christ-centered team members who live, work and play where we serve...in the heart of the community and shared neighborhoods. There's no other organization like this...it's a dream come true to see it in reality after searching for over 20 years for a true impact organization whose mission doesn't stop at 5 p.m. every day.
My vision is that BLOC will see greater impact on the communities we serve and that we will become (and are becoming) a model movement that will be replicated across the United States and the world. I believe we will become a true "center of community" for the rest of the world and that funders will come to us for direction and they will support us at exponential levels because they see the value of one-to-one long-term programs that break the cycle of poverty and community emaciation. We are a movement, not an institution.
"And we know that all things work together for the good of those who love God, and who are called according to His purpose for them." - Romans 8:28
