I was born and raised in Jeffersonville, Indiana right across the river from Louisville, Kentucky by an incredible and supportive family. Growing up I constantly had an interest in learning new things, whether that was how to play different instruments or picking up random trivia from watching Jeopardy religiously. One of the most pivotal seasons of growth in my life was late into high school, and I was able to learn and grow primarily because of several positive influences I had in my life as mentors and role models. After graduating high school, I decided to attend Johnson University in Knoxville, Tennessee and met my amazing fiancé, Lexie.
When Lexie interned at BLOC in the summer of 2020, we were quickly drawn to Price Hill and BLOC’s attention to building relationships with their neighbors and identifying needs in the community. One ministry we both eventually became involved with during Lexie’s internship was BLOC’s after-school program, and we immediately felt connected with the neighborhood and the kids that we got to know well. As a part of BLOC’s after-school staff, my hope is to allow kids to have the space to experience Christ by being loved in their community and sharing hope in any brokenness they might experience. I’m thrilled to continue watching the ways God is working in the lives of students in this neighborhood as he shapes them to positively impact their communities.
Matthew 22:37-39: Jesus replied, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. ’This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”
